Gardener ants grow fastest around 25°C. Too cold and the brood slows down; too hot and the queen gets stressed.
Keeper's notes
- A calm queen lays more eggs. Keep her fed and hydrated.
- Larvae need food to grow. Workers carry it to them.
- A tidy nest keeps the queen's stress low.
- Workers tidy the nest on their own, but a helping hand goes a long way.

Gardener Ant
Species
A gentle beginner species. The queen raises her first workers alone in a test tube, then the colony digs into real soil and keeps growing.
Field notes
- Gardener ants keep small gardens of moss and seeds inside the nest.
- Workers feed larvae mouth to mouth from the colony's food store.
- A young colony grows fastest when the nest stays tidy and warm.

How to play
Keep your Gardener Ant queen healthy and let the colony grow.
- Feed the colony and keep the water topped up.
- Clean the nest so the queen stays calm.
- Watch eggs become larvae, pupae and workers.
- Tap Queen to zoom in on her and check her condition.
- Keep the heat mat near 25°C so the brood grows quickly.
- At 20 workers, prepare the Small Terrarium and move the colony in.
- The terrarium grows part by part as your colony gets bigger. New parts arrive as solid soil and your workers dig them out — drag to look around and zoom out to watch it all.
The colony keeps growing while you are away.
