MSFS Guide and Settings
Understand the impact of critical options and save your profiles so you don’t lose them.
Settings Guide (Impact & Tips)
CPU
TLOD (Terrain Level of Detail)
Critical impact on the processor (CPU). Determines the rendering distance of the ground and distant textures. Tip: Lower this value to between 50 and 100 if you experience stutters when approaching a large, dense airport.
CPU
OLOD (Object Level of Detail)
Moderate impact on the CPU. Controls the display of buildings, trees, and objects in the distance. Tip: 100 is an excellent compromise between visual quality and smoothness.
GPU
Anti-Aliasing (TAA, DLSS, FSR)
Direct impact on the graphics card (GPU). TAA provides the sharpest image (ideal for reading cockpit displays). DLSS (Nvidia) or FSR (AMD) increase FPS but may introduce slight blurriness.
MIX
DirectX 11 vs DirectX 12
DX12 handles multi-core processors better and is required to use Frame Gen, but uses more video memory (VRAM). DX11 can still be more stable on older graphics cards.
GPU
Frame Generation
Artificially doubles your FPS by inserting AI-generated frames. Ideal if you already have a base of 30–40 FPS. Note: Unavailable in VR or on older graphics cards.
GPU
Volumetric Clouds
Big impact on the GPU. The visual difference between 'High' and 'Ultra' is often subtle in flight, but switching to 'High' yields a big gain in smoothness, especially in bad weather.
