Improved Memory Update!

We've released a new update that improves the long-term memory of chatbots.

A new section (Memory) has been added on the right sidebar, you can click it to see the current conversation's memory.

Free users have access to the old Basic long-term memory, while users with a subscription can enjoy the new Pro memory, which should remember past facts, events, and character's attributes much better.

Please test it and leave your feedback in the comments, so we can polish it further.

More features like message pinning, notepad and more are coming soon!

It would be great if there were a way to give instructions to add data to memory directly. Could this be accomplished via the AI instructions (e.g. “anything the user enters ^between carets^ should be added to memory)?

That might work already, you can try. Have in mind the memory is updated every few turns, and not immediately.

The free AI models are all unavailable, why is it temporary or permanent?

Can there be an option to turn off memory? I don't want the AI to remember certain things

I can't figure out where/how to create a new conversion with a chatbot I already have an existing conversation with.

Press the "clear conversation" button that looks like a broom, to the left of the chat input box.

Will that delete/remove the existing conversation? I don't want it to do that!

No, it will stay on the "Conversations" list on the right sidebar.

Theres a bug with it where my acccount wont allow posting new ai. I made a new one and tried it on the but it still dosent work!

I would like to request that you extend the character limit to the personas. the 4000 character limit is a pain when I make a very detailed persona and can't even use it

I really wish we were able to edit things in the Pro Memory. Sometimes it gets things wrong or highlights the wrong things, and you obviously can't go back and change it at the source bcs that would delete the whole thing.

theres a bug with my account that when i try to publish a project it says tool already in use this is realy annoying and if doesent get fixed im moving to character.ai!! This is a warning

so it been some time i made a new one and it did not work i changed the name to a name not been used and now it works i think the bug is that the name is already used then it will say that i think the report of the tool already in use it should be more clearer i will respond if its not that or it dosent work when i rename the name of the project im trying to publish i will go report if dosent work. Does this require Prob sub or will Standard be enough? Asking as it would convince me to subscribe to standard but I can't afford Pro. Thanks!

Any paid subscription gets the improved memory.

Thank you. FYI There's text when viewing the memory system on a chat bot while having a free subscription that states Pro is needed. It may be more clear for others if you change it to 'any upgraded subscription' or 'paid' etc. That may have others like me more likely to subscribe.

Question: ◘ Does changing Models clear memory/context? ◘ If I start a chat with a new bot will the memory be cleared from a different bot convo? ♦PRO Memory♦

Memory is per conversation. Changing AI model doesn't clear it, only starting a new conversation, either by changing to another chatbot or pressing the "Clear conversation" button. You can always see the state of the memory by clicking on the "Memory" button on the right sidebar.
