Screen rotate wipes messages

I was typing out a rather long prompt and noticed i couldn't move back up past the limit of the screen. I tried rotating my device into portrait, but all the text I had typed vanished. Neither of these have previously been a problem, and have only started since the text box has been updated to appear separately. Can this please be fixed?
