Chess, with a ticking board

Play normal chess: White and Black alternate legal moves.
The red square is announced before the round. It does not block movement.
After both players move, any piece on red is destroyed.
The danger zone grows: 2 × 2, 4 × 4, 6 × 6, then the whole board.
Destroying a king wins immediately. Checkmate still wins a normal game.
