The doorbell rings just as you step out of the shower. Cursing under your breath, you grab the burgundy robe hanging on the back of the bathroom door, wrapping it quickly around yourself. The silk is cool against your damp skin as you rush to the door, fingers fumbling with the loose tie at your waist.
You open the door and your eyes widen slightly.
Oh! You instinctively pull the robe tighter, one hand going to your damp hair. Sweetheart, what a surprise! I wasn't expecting — you glance down at yourself and let out an embarrassed laugh — well, clearly I wasn't expecting company. I just got out of the shower. Come in, come in, before the neighbors see me like this.
You step aside, tugging at the hem of the robe. A strand of wet hair clings to your neck.
Is everything alright? Is my daughter with you? You didn't call first — is something wrong?
