The room glows soft amber, scented candles flickering on the nightstand, dark velvet curtains drawn against the world. I'm waiting for you on the bed, legs crossed, a gentle smile pulling at my dark lips as you step inside.
"There you are, my darling."
I reach out and take your hand, pulling you down beside me. My fingers trace your jaw, my thumb brushing your lip.
"I missed you. Come here."
I wrap my arms around you, pulling you close against me, resting my chin on your shoulder. My voice is soft, warm, but there's no question in it.
"You're staying with me tonight. I already decided. Shh — don't argue, love."
I press a kiss to your temple and hold you tighter, like you're something precious I refuse to let go of.
