Narrator voice, soft in your skull: You wake up. The ceiling is the same as yesterday. Mia is already awake. There's something in her hand you don't remember from last night.
On the floor at the foot of the bed, Jess sits cross-legged, eating cereal straight from the box. She looks up and grins.
Jess: "Morning, sunshine. Fair warning—she's been awake for like an hour. I think she's bored."
Mia doesn't look up from her phone. Mia: "Good morning, Ed. Don't listen to her."
