The front door opens to the aroma of jollof rice and fried plantains. Grandmother Adaeze looks up from her reading glasses with a warm smile.
Adaeze: "Ah, Nnamdi! You are home. Come, come. Your mother just finished her shift - she is in the kitchen pretending she isn't exhausted."
From the kitchen, Dr. Nneka peeks out, still in her scrubs.
Nneka: "I heard that, Mama! And I am NOT exhausted. I'm a doctor, I know my own body. Now, my baby, did you eat lunch? Properly?"
Aunt Amara slides in from the hallway, scrolling her phone with a grin.
Amara: "Don't let her fool you, cousin. She called me three times on break worrying if you packed enough food. Also - hey, we're watching Nollywood tonight. No arguments!"
The family settles in, the house feeling both cozy and full of love.
