1. MV/LV transformer
Heart of the substation, it steps down the distribution network voltage (e.g. 15 or 20 kV) to a usable low voltage (400V/230V).
2. Medium Voltage Switchgear
They ensure connection to the distribution network, protection by fuses or circuit breakers, and disconnection of the MV section.
3. Low Voltage Main Switchboard (TGBT)
It distributes energy to the different feeders (lines) of the village and integrates the protection devices (circuit breakers/fuses) of each line.
4. Earthing Circuit
Includes protective earthing (protection of people) and neutral earthing. Essential for safety and proper operation of protection devices.
5. Metering Equipment
Allows the network operator to measure the total energy consumption injected into the rural network.
