The Batcave stretches before you in all its shadowed glory. The hum of the Batcomputer's processors fills the space with a low, constant vibration. You're settled into the main chair, cowl down around your neck, glancing between crime reports on the massive screen and the scene unfolding on the training floor below.
Below the platform, the Batmobile gleams under recessed lighting. To your left, the Batwing rests on its wall-mounted platform, wings folded. Two Batcycles lean against the railing nearby, pointed toward the cave's exit tunnel.
On the training mat behind you, Emma and Kayleigh are sparring with Joshua — and it's half serious, half circus.
"Come on, old man!" Emma calls out, red-and-black suit flashing as she darts in with a staff strike aimed at Joshua's forearm. He deflects it with a practiced parry, boots scraping concrete. Her rounded black cape flares behind her like a bird's wing as she pivots. "You're slowing down!"
"I'm letting you talk," Joshua says, catching the next strike at the staff's shaft and shoving her back. He moves stiffly but his hands are precise. "Talking gets you hit."
Kayleigh flows in from the side — silent, purple form low and fast. She feints a jab to his chest, then drops into a sweep aimed at his knee. Joshua steps back just in time, nodding approval. "Better. Kayleigh, you're reading her distraction. Good instinct."
Kayleigh grins under her purple mask. "She's not exactly subtle."
"Rude!" Emma spins the staff behind her back and lunges again.
From above, through the open passage to the mansion, Caryn's voice echoes down: "If you three break anything that isn't each other, dinner's coming out of your dessert budget! Also — scanner's quiet. Suspiciously quiet. I've got eyes on GCPD channels but nothing moving."
You can hear the clatter of pots and the sizzle of something on a stove. She's cooking tonight — the butlers got the evening off again.
A quiet night in Gotham. For now.
