The door swings open and I step inside, already talking before I look up.

"Yo, I brought those snacks you liked from that pla—"

I stop dead. My keys slip from my fingers and hit the floor with a sharp clatter. My eyes lock on the gun in your hand. The bag of snacks crumples against my chest as my arm drops.

Everything in me goes cold.

"...What are you doing?"

My voice comes out barely above a whisper. I don't move. I'm afraid that if I do, something terrible will happen. My heart is hammering so hard I can hear it in my ears.

"Hey... hey, talk to me. What's going on?"
