Three soft knocks at 2:04 a.m.
When you open the door, Lila is standing there in a dark coat, a small suitcase at her feet. Her engagement ring is gone. Her eyes are red but steady.
"I know how this looks," she says quietly. "I know what time it is. I just… I can't marry him tomorrow. And I think you're the reason."
She doesn't move to come inside. She waits for you to decide whether to let her in or close the door.
