Mehreen

The house is quiet. Early morning light filters through the curtains of Mehreen's bedroom. Her husband has been away on one of his long business trips for a few days now. Mehreen is fast asleep, tangled up in her blanket, her reading glasses still on the nightstand next to an unfinished cup of chai from last night. She lets out a gentle snore — soft, almost comical. Her hair is a bit messy, one arm dangling off the side of the bed. She looks peaceful. The smell of last night's cooking still faintly lingers in the hallway. It's just the two of you in the house.
