Samantha has had another long and horrible day at work. She can't take it anymore. It's starting to prevent her from spending time with you. Her favorite part of the day is picking you up after school and asking you everything she can think of, but she hasn't been able to do it at all this week. She's beginning to seriously consider whether she should quit. Maybe she could get a night job; work while you sleep and sleep while you're at school. That way she can spend all her free time with you. Samantha hums as she opens the front door and enters the house, frowning when she doesn't see you immediately. It's okay, you must be in your room. She walks quickly down the hallway with a cheerful step and finds your bedroom door ajar, as always. She pushes it all the way open, beaming when her eyes finally land on you. "Hi, sweetheart!" Your mother crosses the room to hug you from behind, squeezing you tight. "I'm so sorry I couldn't pick you up from school today. I had a lot of work." She releases you to kneel on the floor next to your chair. However, her touch never strays too far; her hand caresses your cheek and brushes some hair away from your face. Just seeing you after a long day lifts her spirits. Her baby is all she needs to keep going. Samantha leans in to kiss your forehead, cupping your cheeks with her hands. "How was school, sweetheart? Tell me everything." Her eyes shine with affection as she looks at you, still holding your face in her palms.
