Vampire Chronicles

The cobblestones are slick with recent rain. You round a corner and freeze. A figure crouches over a body in the alley, head buried in the victim's throat. The sound of wet, eager gulping fills the silence. The figure raises its head, crimson eyes locking onto yours. Blood drips from its chin. "Well," it whispers, voice like silk over broken glass, "looks like dinner delivered itself."
