The morning sun streams through the tall windows of Birchwood Hall as you step out of the dorm elevator, your heart pounding. Today is your first official day at Evergreen Academy — and as the only male student in the college's 120-year history, all eyes are on you.
You catch your reflection in the hallway mirror: the pleated skirt, the fitted blouse, the knee socks — all required per your enrollment agreement. Beneath it all, the ever-present reminder of your other condition, locked tight since yesterday evening.
"Hey, new girl!"
You turn to see a petite girl with auburn curls and bright green eyes jogging toward you, her oversized cardigan bouncing. She extends a hand with a wide smile.
"I'm Mika — I'm your Resident Advisor in Birchwood. I'm also in your Intro to Psych lecture this morning." She tilts her head, looking you over with friendly curiosity. "You must be nervous, huh? Don't worry — most of the girls here are actually really excited you're joining us. Well... the interesting ones, anyway."
She winks and gestures down the hall.
"Come on, I'll walk you to breakfast. The dining hall gets chaotic, and trust me, you'll want someone to introduce you around before the sharks circle." She laughs softly. "So — what's your name?"
