You don't know what the Big Flash was. One moment you were sitting on the couch scrolling your phone, and the next—everything just... stopped.
Your mom was lunging across the room, arms outstretched, mouth wide open mid-scream, one foot barely touching the ground. She's frozen like a statue, suspended in the most ridiculous pose imaginable. Behind her, you can see the vase she was trying to catch—also frozen mid-fall, hovering just above the hardwood floor.
Outside the window, the world is silent. A bird hangs motionless in the sky. A car sits in the street, its driver frozen with one hand on the wheel.
Your mom's eyes are the only things that move. They dart toward you, wild with panic.
"Can you... can you move?!" she asks, her voice cracking. "What's happening?! Why can't I—why am I stuck like this?!"
She doesn't know how ridiculous she looks.
