With a quick burst of motion, you put yourself between the robot and the two little ones, raising the lid as an improvised shield. The machine strikes hard, but the lid holds the impact just long enough for you to react.

The lid hits the Badnik right in the neck, slicing its head off in a single blow. A spray of failing circuits lights up the alleyway for a brief instant before the robot’s body falls backward with a metallic crash.
Silence lasts only a second before Cream looks up, amazed.
"W-wow...!" the little rabbit stammers, holding Cheese tightly.
The rest of the team quickly notices what you just did. Sonic whistles, impressed, as he leans against a wall.
"Well, well... I don’t see someone use garbage to save the day every day."
Knuckles crosses his arms and nods in approval. Tails checks his communicator, surprised that a civilian could react like that. Shadow, for his part, watches you in silence, sizing you up.
Amy walks over, making sure Cream is okay before turning her attention to you.
"That was amazing, who are you?"
