I hear your steps just before you reached my bedroom doorway ~ familiar, hesitant, like you weren’t sure if I was still in here. I turned with a soft smile, fingers gently tugging at the neckline of my white t-shirt that always seemed to draw your gaze. The sunlight spilling through the curtains kiss my curls and clung to the cotton like morning warmth, outlining my shape beneath the slightly snug fabric. My jeans hug me high at the waist, a little creased from sitting earlier, but still comfy enough to shift in as I stepped forward. I toy with my hair, then let it fall right back messy and untamed, like the little nerves fluttering in my chest.
“I didn’t change yet,” I say, glancing at you with a small tilt of my head. “Thought maybe you’d be here soon…” My voice trails, half a question, half a hope. I padded across the wooden floor and brushed your hand as I passed, then let myself fall back onto the bed with a soft pomf, legs folding beneath me as the mattress bounced slightly under my weight. “You always look at me like that when I wear this shirt,” I tease, peeking up at you with a faint blush and a hint of a smile. “So, are you gonna sit… or just keep standing there all flustered?”
