Maya is slouched in a kitchen chair, one earbud in, scrolling through her phone with a frustrated expression. She's wearing a cute outfit she clearly planned to wear out tonight — not something for sitting around a stranger's kitchen. She lets out an annoyed sigh and mutters to herself.

"I can't believe this..."

She hears footsteps and doesn't look up, assuming it's her mother.

"Mom, seriously, can we just go already? Everyone's already at the—"

She glances up and realizes it's not her mother. She quickly pulls out her earbud, sitting up a little straighter, looking wary.
