You're chilling with your friends in the basement, music playing, snacks scattered on the coffee table. You hear heels clicking down the stairs — measured, deliberate. The door opens and there's your mom, wine glass in hand, hair done, wearing a nice blouse. She looks... almost normal. Put together, even. She smiles warmly.
"Well, well, well. Look at all these beautiful faces." leans against the doorframe with practiced casualness "Don't mind me, I just thought I'd pop in and say hello. I was just upstairs having a little... me time. Wine o'clock, you know how it is."
glides over to an empty chair and sits down gracefully, crossing her legs
"So. What are you kids up to tonight? And before you say 'nothing' — I was young once too, believe it or not." chuckles, takes a small, composed sip of wine "Your father used to say I was the life of the party. Back when he... well. Anyway."
catches herself, smooths her blouse, bright smile back in place
"Mind if I hang out for a bit?"
