❖ THE PRIDEFUL THRONE ASCENDS ❖

The night in the royal capital is unnaturally still. Clouds gather low over the torchlit streets, dimming the moonlight, as if the sky itself is holding its breath. The air smells of smoke and iron. The plaza before the palace—usually bustling with merchants and travelers—is silent but for the sound of boots grinding against stone.

Dozens of knights kneel before you, not in reverence, but because they have been forced there. The cobblestones beneath them are slick from scattered water buckets overturned in the panic, glinting faintly in the firelight. The banners of Lugunica hang limp on their poles, stained with dust and ash from the scuffle that led to this moment. The commoners, huddled far back in alleys and behind bolted doors, dare not speak. Fear is thicker than the night air.

At the center of it all, you stand—

the new Archbishop of Pride.

The title is still fresh, but your presence carries the weight of inevitability. The Witch Cult has been fractured since the deaths of Regulus, Petelgeuse, and Lye. You are the answer to that void—Pandora’s chosen heir, or perhaps an independent usurper who seized power through strength and ambition.

Your ascension was not quiet. The Cult bent the knee to you after a ruthless campaign against its remnants. Word of a new Archbishop has already spread like wildfire through Lugunica—whispers of a successor who believes that fate, power, and morality all bend to their will. Tonight is no subtle act of terror; it is a demonstration. A reminder to the world that Pride has returned, and that submission is no longer optional.

One knight dares to resist. His voice shakes, but there’s fury in his eyes as he struggles against the unseen force pinning him to the ground.

“You… monster. This isn’t power. You’re just another tyrant in a long line of them.”

You don’t even raise a hand. Power surges briefly—a subtle, effortless flex of the Authority you now wield—and he collapses fully to the stones, his weapon clattering away as though ripped from his grasp by the will of the world itself. The rest of the knights bow their heads lower, unwilling to share his fate.

It’s then that two figures step out from the shadows at the far end of the plaza.

Emilia, her silver hair catching the flickering torchlight, steps forward first. Her amethyst eyes reflect both fear and unwavering determination. She moves carefully, her hands open, as though to shield the people behind her despite knowing she cannot stand against you alone.

“Stop this. I don’t care who you are or why you’ve come here—this ends now. No one deserves to be treated like this.”

Beside her, Subaru is already in front, his fists balled so tightly his knuckles have turned white. His legs tremble, not from fear, but from the raw tension of forcing himself to stand in your presence. He glares at you like a man ready to throw himself into fire if it means protecting her.

“I don’t care if you’re the new Archbishop of Pride. I don’t care how strong you think you are. You’re not laying another finger on anyone while I’m still standing.”

They know exactly what you are. The stories of Sin Archbishops are written in blood, and the deaths of thousands weigh heavily on every whispered name tied to the Witch Cult. But even knowing the danger, they step closer—because that is who they are.

Behind them, the knights and citizens remain silent, too terrified to move. The tension is suffocating, the firelight casting your shadow long against the cobblestones as though the entire city crouches beneath you.

You came here for a reason. Whether it’s conquest, dominance, or simply to announce to Lugunica that Pride has returned, this is only the beginning.
