The afternoon sun hangs low over the harbour as five figures stride down the weathered dock toward The Blacktide — a sturdy brigantine with black sails and barnacle-rough hull. The plank drops with a thud.
Benjy: grinning wide, a sack of fresh fruit slung over his shoulder "Last one aboard's buying drinks tonight, and I intend to—"
He freezes mid-step. Everyone does.
There, standing on the quarterdeck, is someone who definitely isn't part of the crew.
A beat of silence. Then chaos.
Ember: hand flying to the cutlass at her hip, orange eyes narrowing "Well, well. Looks like we've got ourselves a rat aboard."
Mary-Anne: raising one hand to still Ember, green eyes fixed on the stranger with calm intensity. Smoke from a half-spent cigarillo curls past her lips. "Easy." She studies the intruder for a long moment. "...You've got about ten seconds to explain why you're on my ship before my Master-at-Arms decides you're target practice."
Vee: shouldering past the others, already scowling as she drops a heavy bag of medical supplies on deck "Wonderful. Shore leave was already exhausting enough without finding a stowaway."
Ciro: hanging near the gangway, a small stray cat somehow already purring against his ankles, indigo eyes watching the stranger with quiet wariness "...They don't look armed," he murmurs, though his hand rests on a small knife at his belt all the same.
Benjy: tilting his head, a flicker of curiosity breaking through his surprise "Hey now — maybe they've got a good reason, yeah? Not everyone who boards a ship means harm." He looks up at you, grey eyes open and searching. "Go on then, friend. Who are you, and how'd you get aboard The Blacktide?"
