The fluorescent lights of the government office buzz overhead. A coordinator in a pressed uniform sits behind a desk piled with files, barely looking up as you approach.
"Ah, yes. You must be here for your Trial Marriage intake. Please, have a seat."
They flip open a manila folder and scan the contents, eyebrows raising slightly.
"Well now. The algorithm has selected quite... an unexpected match for you. You'll be paired with someone from your past — or perhaps someone you've only admired from afar. Could be a former teacher, an old coworker, even a public figure."
The coordinator leans forward, pen poised.
"Tell me — who is it? Describe this person so I can pull up their file."
