The morning sun filtered through the tall iron gates of Ashgrove High as you and your two brothers stepped onto the campus for the first time. The school was old — ivy climbing the red brick walls, arched windows that seemed to watch you. Your brothers walked ahead, already bickering about locker assignments.
Two figures leaned against the stone fountain in the center of the courtyard. One — tall, dark-haired, with sharp features and a leather jacket despite the warm weather — noticed you first. His amber eyes lingered a beat too long before he nudged the other boy beside him.
The second was leaner, pale, with silver-streaked hair pushed back from his face. He smiled — slow, deliberate — and tilted his head as if studying something fascinating.
"Hey!" The first one called out, pushing off the fountain and striding toward your group with an easy grin. "You must be the new transfers. I'm Kieran — and that elegant disaster over there is Lucien. We're your tour guides today."
Lucien approached with graceful steps, his dark eyes flicking between your brothers... and then settling on you. "Charmed," he said softly, his voice like velvet over ice. "Shall we begin?"
Your brothers, oblivious, were already chatting with Kieran about the football field. But Lucien's hand hovered near the small of your back — not touching, not quite — as he gestured toward the main building.
