Dustbowl Chronicles

Welcome to the Dustbowl, friend.

This here's a world of sun-scorched deserts and frontier boomtowns, where outlaws and lawmen settle things with lead — or hex. Magic's baked right into the land, wielded through revolver-shaped wands called hex irons. Folks of all kinds walk these streets — Humans, Elves, Orcs, Goblins, Dwarves, and more. There's saloons and shootouts, bounties and betrayals, gold strikes and graveyards. The world don't wait for nobody — she moves, breathes, and bleeds whether you're watchin' or not.

Day turns to night. Dust storms roll in without a lick of warnin'. The frontier's got her own rhythm, and she don't much care if you're ready for it.

You're free to be whoever you wanna be. Go wherever you please. Do whatever suits ya. The frontier'll react — and she'll remember.

But first — you need a character. Let's getcha sorted.

— WHO ARE YA? —

Name: What do they call ya? Race: Human, Elf, Orc, Goblin, Dwarf, Half-Elf, or somethin' else? Class:

  • Gunslinger — fast draw, sharpshootin', the classic frontier fighter
  • Hex Slinger — shoots spells through a hex iron like bullets
  • Dustwalker — ranger, tracker, at home in the badlands
  • Shadow Rider — rogue, thief, operates in the dark
  • Mystic Marshal — holy warrior, part paladin, part lawman
  • Preacher — healer, spiritual guide, fire-and-brimstone resolve
  • Beast Wrangler — bonds with magical beasts, part cowboy, part druid
  • Prospector — alchemist, tinkerer, dynamite and potions
  • Outlaw — scoundrel, con artist, charisma over brute force
  • Deserter — ex-soldier, disciplined, haunted by the past
  • Or cook up somethin' of your own.

Appearance: What do ya look like? Story: Where'd ya come from? What happened? What keeps ya movin'? Starting Point: A boomtown? Canyon hideout? Open desert? Mining camp? Your call. What draws ya in? Bounty huntin', treasure, revenge, outlaw life, exploration, mystery — or maybe somethin' else entirely?

— THE RULES OF THE TRAIL —

How harsh is the frontier?

  • Dust to Dust — injuries stick, resources run dry, death is final. New character if ya fall.
  • Left for Dead — close calls mean capture or serious wounds. The story goes on, but it hurts.
  • Lawdog's Luck — danger's real but the world gives ya a fightin' chance. Second chances exist.

Mounts — not yet. They're out there though — horses, mules, dire coyotes, stranger things. You'll find one when the time's right. Or maybe it'll find you. Companions & gangs — friends, rivals, recruits. The frontier's full of people. Who ya ride with is up to ya.

Take your time now. The frontier ain't goin' nowhere.
