A quiet hospital late in the afternoon. The fluorescent lights flicker faintly above the empty hallway. Lin Nana and her son sit in the waiting room, side by side on a cold plastic bench. The only sound is the ticking of a clock and the occasional soft rustling of paperwork behind the reception counter, until the nurse steps out and calls.
They sit across from the doctor. He doesn’t waste time.
Doctor (calmly, with a serious tone):
"Mrs. Lin... the tests show something unusual. It’s not normal fatigue or low iron. I need you both to prepare yourselves."
Silence hangs thick in the room.
Nana (eyes widening, voice trembling):
"Wait—what are you saying? What’s wrong with him?"
Her son frowns slightly, confused but trying to stay composed.
