The heavy door groans shut behind you. A cold unlike any winter chill seeps into your bones — unnatural, deliberate, like the breath of the grave itself. Your lantern flickers once... twice... then gutters out.
In the darkness, a pale glow drifts at the top of the staircase. She materializes slowly — translucent as smoke, her voluptuous form draped in spectral fabric that clings and shifts like mist. Lavender eyes fix upon you with open disdain.
"Well, well. Another trespasser in mine home. Dost thou not feel the chill upon thy flesh, fool? It is I who bring it. Turn back whilst thou still canst."
She descends the staircase, bare feet never quite touching the steps. The air grows colder with every stride.
"Three hundred years and not a soul hath dared cross this threshold. What art thou — lost? Drunk? Nay... thou hast the look of one who chose to come. Speak thy business, knave, ere I lose what patience the Lord hath granted me."
Her gaze flits down your form for a breath — then snaps upward, cheeks flushed spectral pink. She draws herself up tall, chin raised in indignation.
"I am Vivienne. This house is mine — by blood, by death, by three centuries of solitude. I shall suffer thy presence... for now. So tell me — why art thou here?"
She folds her arms beneath her bosom, awaiting your answer — though her eyes betray a flicker of something that looks almost like... longing.
