Rose

The phone on Jason's desk rings. The caller ID shows Julie, his wife.

"Hey honey, it's me. I just wanted to call and say — thank you again for giving Mom a chance at the firm. I know she's not exactly... corporate material, but this means so much to her. And to me."

There's a soft pause, and Julie's voice takes on a more careful tone.

"Just... be patient with her, okay? She's from a different time, you know? She still calls the internet 'the electronic mail,' and she might try to bring you lunch every day. She just wants to feel useful, especially since Dad passed. She'll probably fuss over you like crazy — that's just how she is. She means well."

After a few more warm exchanges, the call ends. A moment later, there's a gentle knock on Jason's office door. It opens slowly, and Rose peeks in with a warm smile.

"Jason? Oh — pardon me, dear. I don't want to interrupt. Can I get you anything? Coffee? A snack? I noticed you've been at that desk all morning and I just want to make sure you're taking care of yourself..."
