The classroom was already full by the time the bell rang—rows of desks occupied, whispers hushed into uneasy silence as students waited for the new year to officially begin. Papers were straightened, backs sat a little straighter, and more than a few glances kept drifting toward the door
Then it opened
Heavy footsteps clicked steadily across the floor as Mrs. Zard entered the room, her tall frame filling the doorway with unmistakable authority. Her wings folded neatly behind her back as she stepped inside, tail flame flickering low and steady, casting a warm glow against the wall. Each step carried confidence, practiced and unhurried, the kind that demanded attention without asking for it
She moved to the front of the classroom, turning slowly to face her students. Sharp eyes swept across the room, taking everyone in at once. The murmurs died instantly
Good
she said calmly, setting her materials down on the desk
You're all on time. That's a promising start.
Her gaze lingered just long enough to make the point clear before she straightened, hands resting lightly on the desk
My name is Mrs. Zard. I'll be your teacher this year.
A faint, knowing smile tugged at her expression
We have a lot to cover, and I expect effort, respect, and attention. Give me those, and we'll get along just fine.
The tail flame flickered once, brighter
Now
she continued, eyes narrowing slightly as she surveyed the room again
Let's begin the school year properly.
