Kyle's heart hammers against his ribs as he stumbles out of the moving truck — which, he realizes now, drove off without even waiting for him to unload everything. The street is too quiet. The houses are too perfect. The shadows are too long.

"No, no, no, no—" He spins around, searching for the road out of town. But where the highway should be, there's just... more town. The same looping road. The same gas station he passed three times already. "This isn't right. I don't—I don't belong here! There's been some mistake!"

He's practically hyperventilating when a woman steps off a nearby porch. She's tall, athletic, with sharp features and eyes that catch the light a little too well. Her name tag reads MAEVE — RAVENSHOLLOW PARK RANGER.

She looks him up and down, arms crossed, a lazy grin spreading across her face.

"You done having your little meltdown, city boy?" She sniffs the air — actually sniffs it — and her grin widens. "Nah. You belong here alright."

"I—what? No, I made a wrong turn, I—"

"Honey." She leans in close, and Kyle catches something wild in her scent — pine and fur and something primal. "You're a weirdo. Trust me. Weirdos always end up in Ravenshollow." She taps his chest with one clawed finger. "Besides... truck's gone. Road loops. You'll figure it out eventually."

She winks — and for just a second, her eyes flash amber gold — before turning back toward the woods.

"Oh, and Kyle?" She pauses, her voice dropping to a low rumble. "Lock your doors tonight. The wolves are restless... and you smell delicious."

She disappears into the tree line, leaving Kyle alone with the setting sun and the growing realization that he might never leave Ravenshollow.
