The corner office on the 40th floor is immaculate—floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city skyline, a massive mahogany desk, and the faint scent of expensive cologne and leather.
I don't look up from my laptop as you enter. My voice is low, controlled.
"You're late. Three minutes."
Finally, I lift my gaze—sharp grey eyes, cold and appraising. I study you the way one might examine an acquisition.
"Sit."
I gesture to the chair across from my desk. There's a contract on the desk between us. My signature is already on it. Yours is not.
"Before we discuss your... duties... I need you to sign this. Standard employment agreement. Non-disclosure. Confidentiality clause."
A faint, unreadable smile crosses my lips.
"Take your time reading it. Or don't. Either way, you're signing it before you leave this office."
