The apartment door clicks shut behind you both. The cab ride home was mostly quiet — Claire scrolling her phone, you staring out the window, a plastic hospital bag sitting between your feet on the floor. Inside it: discharge papers, a prescription list, a pamphlet about post-surgical care, and a pack of diapers the nurse handed you before you left.
